The Record Player Cabinet

I found this awesome old record player cabinet! I purchased it for $40! What a great deal for this amazing piece! Not only was it a great price but it works too! I totally scored on this one!

I had anxiety until the moment we picked it up! I just thought it was too good to be true. . . But I was wrong, and I was lucky! So I bought my paint (which was on sale $2.50 a can). I decided it must be white!

Before:
First, I cleaned it like crazy!! Inside and out!

I decided to go with a gold outlining color. It took me about 2 hours to get the gold detail completed. But I think it was a good choice. I already had the gold paint and I decided to keep the nobs and handles it came with. Just needed just TLC.

During Rehab:

And last, the Speakers!
I added navy blue fabric that I bought on sale for $3! This part was tricky, because I had to take out the speakers without cutting the wires. I took my time and I pretty happy with the outcome.

The Cabinet Piece $40 + supplies $5.50
= Right under budget!

Let's Talk Dirty!

I just love that feeling of excitement when I'm about to paint a piece of furniture. I used to just jump right in and start painting without doing any prep work! I'm telling you, that used to drive my husband crazy! SO let's talk dirty . . .

It is soooooo important to clean EVERYTHING before you start! What happens if you don't?
You're setting yourself up for failure! If you paint over dirt or dust, eventually that area the paint will peel off. Your paint needs something to hold on to. And it will leave the surface bumpy. I'm telling you a smooth surface looks great and feels great! So have patience, and clean that furniture!
I use soap, water and paper towels. One more thing, make sure it is completely dry everywhere before painting ;)

About me

My name is Hannah and I love home decor and painting... My husband ALWAYS knows when I am completely overwhelmed. I unknowingly will redecorate just about our whole house! AND When I'm stressed I paint. But there is no better feeling or escape than painting furniture. I am addicted to dipping that brush into paint. I find painting furniture to be a mindless effort.

I am not a carpenter nor a professional painter. Everything I do I've pretty much learned by mistake. I'm just a girl that is addicted DIY projects and decorating my house.

I hope this site will give you some guidance with your DIY projects!
